Last summer, we “enjoyed” five days in a row over 100F
in Eugene, Oregon. This was not normal for us.
In light of the heat (our average July temperature is 83F),
my love of Classical Studies (ancient Greek language and culture),
and one of my dear friends who is just-fine-with-this-heat-thank-you,
I give you “kakotheres.”

 

As with many good Greek words, it translates a few ways. I had a
hard time deciding between “the sun mislikes me”
and “bad at summer.” Luckily, my good friend Jessi at Mislaid Pages
took up my challenge and designed “the sun mislikes me.”
