April Releases — Already in Stores!

Hey y’all. Here we are, another month gone by. Is it just me or did April zip by in a flash? It did over here! I still managed to get quite a bit done though, not least of which is finally releasing two designs that have been in the works for ages!

Curglaff

First up is No. 12 Curglaff:

Curglaff is the first in a series of designs that are based on English words that have fallen into disuse. Curglaff, as you can see, is the shock felt in bathing when one first plunges into cold water. It’s that zing that you feel. Yeowch. And the unfortunate Paul Morphy, American Chess master from the 1800s, met an untimely demise in 1884 New Orleans due to that shock.

Curglaff was originally designed as a gift chart for the Mittagong Stitchers Retreat in Australia in November 2019. My dear friend Michelle introduced me to the book of “retired” English words. Next in the series is Chatterbroth.

Next up is No. 22 Personal is Political:

Bendy Stitchy Designs No. 22 Personal is Political

When I started designing this, it was planned to be a submission to a zine that never quite got off the ground. That was quite a bummer, but the silver lining is that I was able to release the design to the world that much more quickly.

I love everything about this little spot sampler. It’s so pretty and so feminine. That pink fabric is just precious. And the motifs could not be sweeter, stitched in DMC and Colour & Cotton flosses. The butterfly is a reproduction from one of my antiques and I can’t wait to turn it into a brooch.

Then, BAM! The modern sentiment on this old fashioned looking sampler hits hard after you take in the prettiness. And, I hope, it leaves everyone thinking just a bit.

I hope you enjoy my two new releases. I’m not sure whether I’m going to go for an every-six-weeks release schedule or an every-other-month, I’m still finding my way in this design business. Either way, I hope you’re as excited as I am for everything that’s coming up. Look for a reproduction sampler later this year and a beautiful original “red” sampler stitched in Dinky Dyes silks in the “colors of the year” for 2020.

Happy stitching y’all.
