Hey y’all! 2019 is drawing to a close and 2020 is mere hours away (for me that is, most everyone else has been in 2020 for hours now!).

For those of you who may just be joining us on this journey, and because I love a good recap, I want to talk a little bit about our charity work. It started in April 2017 when I began fundraising on my Flosstube channel and on my Instagram account for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Together, between April 2017 and September 2017, we raised over $11,000 for the Eugene, Oregon Walk to End Alzehimer’s. I haven’t said it enough: thank you.

From that fundraising sprouted an idea: if we can raise that much money for ONE charity that is close to my heart, how much more good can we as a community do for a different charity each month? The answer is: so much good!

Since all of this fundraising and charity work began in April 2017, I’m shocked and astounded and HUMBLED to tell you that we have raised somewhere in the ballpark of $29,199 for 15 different charities both large and small. Together. TOGETHER. When I get tired, and I do get tired, all I have to do is look at that number or go back and read a message from someone whose heart has been touched by a charity that we have chosen to support.

In the vein of not stopping, I’m going to up my game. This January we will raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. This is the second January in a row that we’ve supported MJFF and we will always support them in January. I lost my Papa to Parkinson’s in January 2014.

So for this month’s fundraising, I’ve designed a chart based on a MJF quote about his journey with Parkinson’s. I think it’s a quote that will resonate with all of us. The chart will be available as PDF only in my Etsy shop, BendyStitchyDesigns, and 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Thank you all, so much, for going along on this journey with me. I can’t believe how far we’ve all come. And I can’t wait to see how much farther we can all go. Together.
